Why Us?

Hello and thank you for visiting. My name is Rob Montes Vigil and I’m the founder of Vigilant Trails®. When I started this thing in my garage many years ago I never would have imagined it would grow to the level it has. I’m humbled you are here and grateful to our customers.
If you are reading this you probably have at least one or two questions. Allow me to be proactive and address two of the most frequent, Why us and who are we?
Why us? Because we aren’t an Outdoor company that makes survival products, we are a Survival company that makes outdoor products. We over engineer and field test every piece of gear to make sure that product will work when you call on it in any weather and any environment.
Who are we? We are a diverse group of professionals that set out to build a military style survival kit and quickly realized there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all survival kit. Everyone’s needs are different but share many essentials like Fire, Shelter, Water, Fishing, Trapping, First Aid, and Repair. We decided to focus on and design products for these 7 categories. We then again realized even within these 7 categories there must be specialization to better suit the unique needs of our customers.
That’s when our“Aha Moment” arrived! By borrowing concepts we learned in the software world and applying them to products (a first in the world), we could then offer Survival solutions based on one’s own unique requirements.
We pioneered the concept of “Stages”. Stages are borrowed from the concept of software updates. Stages allow you the customer to tailor a survival solution based upon your own needs. The level of functionality required will be an important determining factor.
We’re also the first Survival company ever to offer “localization”. Also borrowed from the software world, localization means local to a specific geographic area. So expect to see products that are purpose built for certain regions.
We are partnering with www.Ridey.rocks to offer their application as the “Social Engine” that will power Vigilant Trails Outdoor Collaboration Platform. It will be available for free for End-Users (perpetually) and new Service Providers for a limited time. This will also open us up to introducing an affordable and functional method to inject GPS into some or all of our Survival products.
Lastly, we are pioneering the concept of “Build-Your-Own-Survival-Kit”. We’re releasing modules regularly under the trademarked name “Survival Kit Essentials”. The first five modules are now available. It’s our strategic goal to eventually open up our entire inventory to further the concept along.
